Individual therapy in Colorado

Mental Health Counseling & Individual Therapy in Denver

CATC provides personalized mental health therapy for adults working through anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, emotional regulation, relationship strain, and co-occurring substance use concerns.

Therapy that turns insight into practical change

Effective therapy gives people a structured place to slow down, name what is happening, understand patterns, and build tools that hold up in daily life. CATC therapy is designed for adults who want more than a surface conversation. Sessions focus on symptoms, history, behavior patterns, relationships, coping strategies, and specific goals.

CATC serves the Denver Metro Area, Fort Collins, Greeley, Northern Colorado, and eligible telehealth clients across Colorado. Owner and Executive Director David A. Yingling, LPC personally helps match new clients with appropriate services, whether the next step is individual therapy, an evaluation, substance abuse counseling, or medication support.

CATC accepts Colorado Medicaid, United Healthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and self-pay by credit card. In-person and telehealth care may be available by appointment.

Common therapy concerns

  • Anxiety, panic, constant worry, racing thoughts, avoidance, or physical stress symptoms.
  • Depression, low motivation, grief, isolation, mood changes, or loss of interest.
  • Trauma, difficult memories, emotional reactivity, trust issues, or nervous-system overwhelm.
  • Life transitions, job stress, relationship conflict, burnout, identity concerns, or major decisions.
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use patterns where therapy needs to address both sides of the problem.

How therapy works at CATC

  1. Intake assessment and fit

David helps route your inquiry, then your clinician completes an intake assessment covering your current concerns, therapy history, goals, safety needs, and service fit.

  2. Treatment goals

You and your clinician define what progress should look like: fewer symptoms, better coping, stronger relationships, more stable routines, reduced relapse risk, or improved daily functioning.

  3. Weekly or recurring sessions

Sessions may include cognitive and behavioral skill-building, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed support, emotional-regulation work, insight-oriented conversation, and practical planning.

  4. Progress review

Therapy is adjusted as life changes. Your clinician may revisit goals, coordinate with other providers when consent is given, or recommend evaluation or medication support if needed.

Mental health therapy FAQs

How often do therapy sessions happen?

Frequency depends on your needs, goals, schedule, and clinician recommendation. Many clients begin weekly or every other week, then adjust as progress is made.

Is an intake assessment required before starting mental health counseling?

Yes. Mental health counseling starts with an intake assessment so your clinician can understand your concerns, history, goals, safety needs, and service fit. A separate formal evaluation may still be required for diagnostic, court, probation, work, school, medical, or documentation purposes.

Can therapy help if substance use is also part of the problem?

Yes. CATC provides both mental health and substance abuse services, which is useful when anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, or relationship concerns are connected to substance use patterns.

Can I use telehealth for therapy?

Telehealth may be available for eligible clients across Colorado when it fits the clinical need and service requirements.
